Colin Trevorrow is an American film director and screenwriter. He was born on September 13, 1976, in San Francisco, California. Trevorrow started his career directing and writing independent films, and he gained recognition with his debut feature, "Safety Not Guaranteed" (2012).
However, Trevorrow is perhaps best known for directing the blockbuster film "Jurassic World" (2015), the fourth installment in the "Jurassic Park" franchise. The film was a massive success, grossing over $1.6 billion worldwide. Trevorrow also co-wrote the screenplay for "Jurassic World."
Following the success of "Jurassic World," Trevorrow was attached to various big-budget projects in Hollywood. He directed the science-fiction drama "The Book of Henry" (2017) and co-wrote the screenplay for "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" (2018), the sequel to "Jurassic World." He was initially announced as the director for the third installment, "Jurassic World: Dominion," but due to scheduling conflicts, he stepped back to become an executive producer, allowing J.A. Bayona to direct the film.
Apart from his work in the "Jurassic Park" franchise, Trevorrow was also chosen as the director for "Star Wars: Episode IX" (2019), the final installment of the sequel trilogy. However, creative differences led to Trevorrow leaving the project, and J.J. Abrams took over as director.
Colin Trevorrow continues to work in the film industry and remains a notable figure in the blockbuster filmmaking.
